Bargarh DHH Faces Backlash for Using Cardboard on Fracture Patients!

Bhubaneswar: A shocking incident of medical negligence has surfaced at Bargarh District Headquarters Hospital (DHH), where cardboard was used to stabilize the arms of fracture patients instead of Plaster of Paris casts.

A viral video showing a hospital attendant wrapping cardboard around a patient’s fractured arm has sparked widespread outrage and raised serious concerns about the quality of medical services at the state-run facility.

The incident, which occurred in the absence of an orthopaedic doctor, highlights ongoing issues at the hospital, already criticized for faulty lifts and frequent power outages.

Two similar cases were reported on August 3 and 5, where patients with broken arms received makeshift cardboard treatment before being referred 60 km away to Burla Medical College for proper care, as per media reports.

Local residents have expressed dismay over the use of cardboard meant for packing fruits to bandage fractures.

Meanwhile, the Chief District Medical Officer (CDMO) has ordered an inquiry into the incident, promising strict action against those responsible.
