Berhampur: Berhampur police arrested a group of seven miscreants who were preparing to commit a dacoity near highway dhaba area on NH-16 within Gopalpur police limits.
The accused have been identified as Chinu Bisoyi (23) of Lochapada village, Raja Maharana (20), Babul Nayak (19), Situn Swain (19), Sitam Swain (21), Kiran Kumar Swain (22); all are from Hugulapata village and Sagar Rout (23) of Sidheswar village.
While performing night patrolling on the midnight of February 16 near Karapalli Chawk, the Gopalpur PS staffs received a reliable information about the preparation of dacoity led by Chinu Bisoyi. The anti-socials assembled near the Highway Dhaba on NH 16 for committing dacoity in Petrol pump, area with deadly weapons.
The police team reached at the spot with the help of informer secretly and managed to arrest seven members of the gang. During the interrogation, they confessed their intention to commit dacoity in petrol pump and trucks that come on the NH. All seven were arrested and forwarded to the court, said Berhampur SP Dr. Saravana Vivek M.
