Bhubaneswar: Opposition Biju Janata Dal (BJD) has announced a six-hour strike in Odisha’s Puri district on August 7, from 6 AM to 12 PM, demanding justice in the alleged sexual assault and mysterious death of a minor girl from Balanga.
The announcement was made during a press conference today, where the party accused the state government of shielding the perpetrator and highlighted serious lapses in the investigation.
The minor, who was under treatment at AIIMS, Delhi, passed away under unclear circumstances. The BJD raised concerns over inconsistencies in the official narrative, alleging that the victim’s father was pressured to change his initial statement.
Puri district BJD president Umakanta Samantray criticized the lack of transparency and warned of intensified protests if the government fails to act.
The BJD has called for a thorough and impartial investigation to uncover the truth and ensure justice for the victim.
