BJD Forms Key Committees for Nuapada Bypoll

Bhubaneswar: The Biju Janata Dal (BJD) has constituted three committees to oversee preparations for the ensuing Nuapada Assembly by-election, scheduled for November 11.

In an official order issued by BJD President Naveen Patnaik, the party announced the formation of a Steering Committee, a Zonal Committee, and a Local Action Committee, comprising senior leaders and coordinators for smooth management of the poll process.

The Steering Committee has senior leaders – Prasanna Acharya, Niranjan Pujari, Snehangini Chhuria, Tukuni Sahoo, Niranjan Bisi, and Md. Ayub Khan.

The Zonal Committee, covering six Zilla Parishad zones and four urban local body zones, includes senior leaders such as Kalikesh Narayan Singh Deo, Sarada Nayak, Sudam Marandi, Debesh Acharya, Saroj Meher, Manohar Randhari, Rohit Pujari, Pradip Majhi, Jogesh Singh, and Bikram Panda.

The Local Action Committee comprises Adhiraj Panigrahi, Abani Joshi, and Manoj Mishra.

The Nuapada Assembly seat fell vacant following the demise of former minister and senior BJD leader Rajendra Dholakia on September 8.

According to the Election Commission of India, the gazette notification for the bypoll will be issued on October 13.

The last date for filing nominations is October 20, followed by scrutiny on October 22 and withdrawal of nominations by October 24.

Polling will take place on November 11, while counting of votes is slated for November 14. The election process will be completed by November 16, as per the ECI schedule.
