Dhenkanal: Former Sadangi RI Convicted in Bribery Case, Sentenced to 2 Years RI

Dhenkanal: Former Revenue Inspector (RI) of Sadangi Circle under Gondia Tahasil in Dhenkanal district, Pravati Swain, who is currently posted as RI of Bhuban, was convicted in a bribery case by the Special Judge, Vigilance, Dhenkanal.

She was sentenced to undergo rigorous imprisonment for two years along with a fine.

Swain had been chargesheeted by Odisha Vigilance under Sections 13(2) read with 13(1)(d) and 7 of the Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988, for demanding and accepting a bribe of Rs 5,000 from a complainant to submit an enquiry report for issuance of a legal heir certificate in favour of the complainant’s deceased mother.

Following the conviction, Odisha Vigilance said it will move the competent authority for dismissal of Pravati Swain from government service.
