Former Odisha Congress Chief Niranjan Patnaik’s Bhubaneswar House Burgled on Republic Day; BJD Raises Concerns on Law and Order Situation
Bhubaneswar: In a shocking incident, the house of former Odisha Congress President Niranjan Patnaik in Bhubaneswar has been burgled on the Republic Day raising question on law and order situation in the state.
As per reports, an unknown burglar stole gold ornaments and household valuables from the Niranjan Patnaik’s home in the upscale VIP Colony within Nayapalli police jurisdiction early this morning.
The former Congress Chief’s son and daughter-in-law were living in the upper storey of the house. Lakhs of rupees and gold jewellery were robbed from their house. The miscreants entered their house by jumping over the boundary wall. This act of the miscreants was captured in the CCTV installed in the house, as per the reports.
After jumping over the wall, one of them turned the CCTV in other direction so as to not get caught. This stealing has been carried out in a professional way.
Meanwhile, the opposition Biju Janata Dal has highly condemned the incident.
When the 76th Republic Day is being celebrated, the residence of senior Congress leader Niranjan Patnaik, who lives in the VIP area, is being robbed. This is shameful. The capital is under security. But how did the theft happen? If a VIP house is stolen, how are the common people safe? The law and order situation is disastrous, said BJD MP Sulata Deo.
The Nayapalli police has started an investigation into the matter.
