Koraput: At least 35 students of PM Shri School hostel in Siribeda village under Borigumma block of Odisha’s Koraput district were rushed to hospital on Monday night after falling seriously ill, reportedly due to food poisoning.
As per reports, around 41 boarders complained of severe stomach ache, vomiting and nausea shortly after having dinner at the hostel. The symptoms began around 9:30 pm, prompting panic among the students. Hostel warden and school headmaster immediately arranged three vehicles and shifted 35 affected children to Borigumma Community Health Centre (CHC) for urgent treatment.
The remaining six students who showed milder symptoms were examined at the hostel itself by medical teams from Borigumma and nearby Ramagiri PHC.
The incident has triggered outrage among parents and local residents, who have accused the school authorities of negligence in maintaining food quality and hygiene in the hostel kitchen.
