Odisha: Former RI Dismissed from Service after Conviction in Bribery Case

Bhubaneswar: Ramesh Chandra Barad, former Revenue Inspector (RI) of Karlamunda Tahasil in Kalahandi district has been dismissed from government service following his conviction in a bribery case.

Barad was convicted by the Special Judge, Vigilance, Bhawanipatna on January 31, 2025, and also fined Rs. 20,000 for demanding and accepting a bribe from a complainant to demarcate their land. The Odisha Vigilance had charge-sheeted him in April 2021 under the Prevention of Corruption (Amendment) Act, 2018.

Barad was dismissed from the Government service as per the provision of the OCS (OCA) Rules, 1962 with effect from February 18, 2025.

He has been sentenced to three years of rigorous imprisonment in a bribery case.
