Odisha Govt to Provide Mid-Day Meals to Class 9 and 10 Students

Bhubaneswar: The students of classes IX and X of government-run schools in Odisha will now get midday meals.

The proposal in this regard has already been passed in the state cabinet. It will be implemented soon.

School and Mass Education Minister Nityananda Gond said why should the students of classes IX and X be deprived of getting midday meals in a school where it is served to students upto Class VIII. Therefore, the state government has decided to extend the midday meals for the students of classes IX and X, he said.

Currently, 44.5 lakh students of primary and upper primary schools up to Class VIII are provided the meal under the midday meal scheme.

With this announcement, an additional 10 lakh students of will be included in the scheme, as per reports.
