Bhubaneswar: The Housing & Urban Development Department launched SAHAJOG, a first-of-its-kind initiative to connect urban poor with government schemes.
Inaugurated by Dr. Krushna Chandra Mahapatra, Minister of H&UD, the program focuses on a set of priority schemes, including Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (Urban), Ration Cards under NFSA, Pipe water supply, Ayushman Card, PWD identity Card, Subhadra Yojana, Labour Card, E-Shram Card, Garima Scheme, PM Vishwakarma Yojana, Madhubabu Pension Yojana, Sukanya Samridhi Yojana, and PM Suraksha Bima Yojana in the initial phase. Housing support under PMAY (U) will serve as the entry point for the saturation of other schemes to a family
Following a successful pilot in six ULBs, SAHAJOG will cover 44 ULBs across eight districts, reaching 15 lakh people, with plans for statewide expansion. Community volunteers, SHGs, and ULB workers will drive awareness and application support in a two-month campaign mode.
District-level committees, led by Collectors, ensure coordination, with monthly reviews and weekly grievance redressal, as per an official release.
