Bhubaneswar: In a significant relief for students and parents, the Government of Odisha has announced that all schools across the state including both government and private institutions will reopen for students of Classes 1 to 12 from Thursday, June 18.
The decision has been taken in light of the latest forecast issued by the India Meteorological Department, which suggests a gradual easing of the severe heatwave conditions that had earlier led to the closure of schools in several districts.
School and Mass Education Minister Nityananda Gond confirmed the decision, stating that regular academic activities will resume across Bhubaneswar and other parts of the state from the reopening date.
However, the government has also issued a cautionary note, stating that the situation is being closely monitored. Officials added that if heatwave conditions worsen again, the schedule may be reviewed and the summer vacation could be extended further in the interest of student safety and well-being.
