Bhubaneswar: Leader of Opposition (LoP) in Odisha Assembly Naveen Patnaik on Monday expressed his strong disappointment over the stats budget 2025-26 presented by Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi in the Assembly.
In his reaction on the budget, Naveen said, “Under this double-engine government, the economic growth of the state has declined. I wonder whether the double engine is going in the reverse direction”.
The BJD President also expressed his concerns over the slow pace of industrial growth in the state.
He said, “A very large sum of money from the last budget has not been spent. Industrial growth is going down, and so are the finances of our state”.
The prices of essential commodities are affecting everyone in Odisha. The suicide of farmers continues. Women are not getting work under Mission Shakti. Unemployment is spiraling, the LoP said.
“To announce a large sum of money in the budget is not important. What has to be done is the expenditure to be spent for the development of our state”, Naveen said.
“I repeat again, that this is a budget that must be spent for the people of Odisha. We will watch and see what is being spent”, he further stated.
