New Delhi: To support the Kashi Tamil Sangamam 4.0, Indian Railways is operating seven special trains connecting Kanyakumari, Chennai, and Coimbatore with Varanasi (Banaras).
The trains ensure smooth and comfortable travel for thousands attending the cultural event. Departures from Tamil Nadu are scheduled on 29 Nov (Kanyakumari), 2 Dec (Chennai), 3 Dec (Coimbatore), 6 Dec (Chennai), 7 Dec (Kanyakumari), 9 Dec (Coimbatore), and 12 Dec (Chennai).Return special trains from Varanasi will run on 5, 7, 9, 11, 13, 15, and 17 December 2025 to Kanyakumari, Chennai, and Coimbatore.
The month-long Kashi Tamil Sangamam 4.0, which began on 2 December, focuses on the theme “Let Us Learn Tamil – Tamil Karkalam.” It promotes Tamil language learning in Varanasi schools, student exchange tours, and cultural programmes under the Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat initiative.
Supported by the Ministry of Education, IIT Madras, BHU, and ten central ministries including Railways, the event strengthens ancient ties between Tamil Nadu and Kashi through shared heritage, arts, and knowledge exchange.
