Cuttack: The Annual High School Certificate (HSC) Examination conducted by the Board of Secondary Education, Odisha commenced across the state today, with as many as 5,61,979 students appearing at 3,082 examination centres.
The Board has put in place elaborate arrangements to ensure the smooth and transparent conduct of the examinations. Mobile phones have been strictly prohibited inside examination halls for invigilators and staff. All centres are under CCTV surveillance, and live streaming of the examination process is being carried out. A dedicated command control room has also been set up at the Board headquarters to closely monitor the proceedings.
As many as 3,999 differently-abled students are appearing for the Class X board examinations this year. Special arrangements have been made for them to write the exams on the ground floor. They will receive an additional 50 minutes for each paper and 55 minutes extra for the Mathematics examination. Student helpers with education up to Class IX have been permitted to assist candidates requiring writing support.
To curb malpractice, the Board has constituted 37 special squads, while 72 district-level squads have been formed under the supervision of District Education Officers (DEOs).
The HSC examination is being conducted simultaneously with the State Open School (SOS) and Sanskrit Madhyama examinations. A total of 12,414 students are appearing for the State Open School Certificate (SOS) examination, while 2,748 students are taking the Madhyama examination.
