Jagatsinghpur: Woman Dies due to Lack of Oxygen in Ambulance

Jagatsinghpur: Chaos erupted in Jagatsinghpur district today when enraged locals vandalized a private ambulance after a 58-year-old woman died en route to SCB Medical College and Hospital in Cuttack due to lack of oxygen.

The patient identified as Kamala Panda, a resident of Brahmanakhanda village under Aula panchayat, was initially rushed to the district headquarters hospital after complaining of chest pain. As her condition worsened, she was referred to SCB Medical College. Her family arranged a private ambulance for the transfer, but the vehicle reportedly lacked oxygen support. Kamala’s condition deteriorated mid-journey, and she passed away before reaching the hospital.

Infuriated by the alleged absence of life-saving equipment, Kamala’s relatives and villagers smashed the ambulance’s windows and damaged the vehicle. They filed a police complaint, claiming the lack of oxygen contributed to her death, as per reports.

The incident has reignited concerns over the lack of adequate healthcare facilities in Odisha’s remote areas, with locals demanding accountability and better medical infrastructure.
