Odisha: Minor Girl Raped in Bhubaneswar

Bhubaneswar: A minior girl was allegedly raped by a local betel shop owner in Kalinganagar area under Bharatpur police limits in Bhubaneswar.

The victim (11), a native of Ganjam district, was staying with her parents in a rented house in the locality.

The accused has been identified as Naresh, who runs a paan shop near the victim’s residence.

As per reports, Naresh had made a failed rape attempt on December 4 when the minor was alone at home. The girl raised an alarm, forcing the accused to flee.

Yesterday, taking advantage of the parents’ absence at work, Naresh allegedly entered the house again and committed the crime.

He reportedly threatened to kill the child if she revealed the matter to anyone. When the parents returned home, they found their daughter in severe pain and crying inconsolably.

Upon questioning, the minor narrated the ordeal. The parents immediately filed a complaint at the Mahila police station.

A manhunt has been launched to nab the accused, who is absconding, reports added.
