Traffic Management During Ratha Yatra: 24 Designated Parking Places, Free E-vehicles for Elderly and Divyang

Puri: With the preparations for the world famous Ratha Yatra in Puri in their last leg, the district administration and the Police Department have made elaborate arrangements for traffic management and hassle free mobility of the devotees.

Transport Commissioner Transport Commissioner Amitabh Thakur who is also in-charge of the traffic management for Ratha Yatra, today briefed the media about the arrangements made for this grand event at Puri.

While the entire traffic management has been divided into three parts, the state of the art traffic control room has been set up at the Kumbharapada Police Station. Parking arrangements have been made at 24 designated places of the city. All tourist buses coming to Puri will be stationed at the Malatipatapur Bus Stand. The buses coming from Konark side will be stationed at Talabania. While six parking places have been set up at Talabania for four wheelers, those vehicles coming from the Brahmagiri side will be parked at Lokanath Temple. Two wheelers will be required to park at the Jagannatballava Parking along with Matitota cricket field and Mashanichandi.

The administration has made arrangements for free transport for elderly persons and divyangs by e-vehicles, he said. Besides, 24 hour helpline number has also been activated for the Ratha Yatra. People can call 6370967100 for any traffic related issues. A dedicated e-corridor has also been made for ambulances.
