Bhubaneswar: Biju Janata Dal (BJD) President and Leader of Opposition Naveen Patnaik today broke his silence on the suspension of Patkura MLA Arvind Mohapatra, defending the party’s decision and emphasizing discipline and public service.
Naveen said that that the BJD had fielded Mohapatra in the Patkura assembly constituency specifically to serve the people of the area. However, complaints had surfaced accusing the MLA of troubling the locals.
“Those who trouble people while in the party are thrown out,” the BJD President said firmly, underscoring the party’s zero-tolerance stance toward such behavior.
Mohapatra, the son of veteran politician Bijay Mohapatra, was suspended along with Champua MLA Sanatan Mahakud for alleged anti-party activities.
The move has been met with strong support at the grassroots level in Patkura. The Patkura BJD leaders unanimously welcomed the suspension during a joint press conference attended by Zilla Parishad members, elected Panchayat representatives, and senior organizational figures.
