Berhampur: Berhampur Town Police rescued a 17-year-old girl from Surat, Gujarat, and arrested the accused, Karmraj Dubey alias Subalak, a 26-year-old auto-rickshaw driver.
The minor, daughter of an informant from Bada Bazar, Berhampur, went missing on November 29, 2024, after leaving for a coaching center in Berhampur. Distressed by a family misunderstanding, she fled to Surat, where she met the accused at Surat Railway Station.
Dubey, a resident of Hira Darshana, Govalak Nagar, Surat, allegedly lured the girl with job promises, took her to his residence, and engaged in a physical relationship with her, living as husband and wife.
The accused, originally from Jaunpur, Uttar Pradesh, is married with children, who reside in his native village.
Acting on technical intelligence, Berhampur Town Police traced the minor to Surat, rescued her, and apprehended Dubey. He was produced before a Surat court for transit remand and subsequently brought to Berhampur, informed Berhampur SP Dr. Saravana Vivek M.
Dubey was produced before the Berhampur court for further legal proceedings. Further investigations are underway.
