Biju Yuva-Chhatra Janata Dal to Hold Statewide Protest Against Rising Crimes on Women on June 25

Bhubaneswar: The Biju Chhatra Janata Dal (BCJD) and Biju Yuva Janata Dal (BYJD) have announced a statewide protest on June 25 in response to the alarming rise in crimes against women under the BJP-led government in Odisha.

The protest will be held across all college campuses, where students will wear black badges as a symbol of dissent against the Mohan Majhi-led government. The BJD has called upon all youth and student organizations across the state to join the movement and stand united for women’s safety and dignity.

At a press conference, senior BJD leaders and MLAs Byomakesh Ray and Devi Ranjan Tripathy condemned the deteriorating law and order situation. They alleged that since the BJP assumed power, there has been a sharp surge in heinous crimes, including rape, robbery, dacoity, and theft.

Citing official data, the BJD leaders said that Odisha is now witnessing an average of 15 rapes per day. The recent gangrape incident in Gopalpur, they added, has deeply shocked the conscience of the state and damaged Odisha’s global reputation.
