Naveen Condemns Bhubaneswar Minor Gang Rape, Hits out at BJP Govt over Collapse of Law and Order
Bhubaneswar: Biju Janata Dal (BJD) President and Leader of Opposition Naveen Patnaik on Tuesday strongly condemned the alleged gang rape of a minor in Bhubaneswar, terming the incident extremely sensitive, shocking, and deeply disturbing.
Expressing serious concern over the worsening law and order situation in Odisha, Naveen said brutality and anarchy have crossed all limits, making even the state capital unsafe.
He alleged that criminals are growing increasingly fearless while the BJP-led government is rapidly losing its credibility.
Questioning the state government’s failure, the BJD President asked how much further law and order must deteriorate before the administration wakes up. He said the government’s inability to prevent crimes has created a climate of fear among ordinary citizens.
Naveen further stated that the failure to ensure a safe environment for women—particularly in the capital city—exposes the BJP government’s incompetence and insensitivity. Emphasising that women’s safety must be treated as a top priority, he urged the government to take stringent and effective steps to curb the rising crime graph.
The government must act proactively to prevent such heinous crimes, not merely respond after tragedies occur, Naveen asserted, demanding immediate and decisive action to restore public confidence and ensure safety, especially for women.
