Bhubaneswar: BJD President and Leader of Opposition in Odisha Assembly Naveen Patnaik has condoled the demise of Indian shooting legend and renowned coach Jaspal Rana.
Taking to his ‘X’ handle, Naveen wrote, “Deeply saddened by the passing of ace shooter, Asian Games Gold Medallist and mentor Jaspal Rana. He brought laurels to the country with his sporting achievements and inspired a generation of sportsman. His passing away is a profound loss to the world of sports. Condolences to his family, friends and admirers. Om Shanti”.
According to reports, Jaspal Rana passed away on Friday at the age of 49 after suffering a cardiac emergency earlier this week.
His demise marks a significant loss for Indian shooting. One of the country’s most decorated marksmen and a highly respected coach, Rana played a pivotal role in nurturing generations of pistol shooters and remained closely associated with the national shooting programme until his final days.
