Schools Across Odisha to Remain Closed from April 27 Due to Severe Heatwave

Bhubaneswar: The Odisha Government has announced the closure of all government, government-aided, and private schools starting from April 27 to safeguard students from the scorching heatwave sweeping across the state.

The move comes after the School and Mass Education Department submitted a formal proposal, which was promptly approved by Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi.

According to the official order, all regular classes will remain suspended until further notice.

Pre-scheduled examinations will continue as planned. Census-related work and other essential administrative functions in schools will also proceed without interruption.

Odisha has been grappling with intense heat conditions in recent days, with several districts recording temperatures well above 40°C. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued warnings for severe heatwave conditions in many parts of the state, prompting the government to take this precautionary measure to protect the health and well-being of school children.
