Southwest Monsoon Reaches Kerala

New Delhi: The southwest monsoon has reached Kerala on Thursday, announced the India Meteorological Department (IMD).

In a statement, the IMD said that the monsoon has onset over Kerala on June. Further advance is likely into more parts of Arabian Sea, south peninsular India, Bay of Bengal and Northeast India during next 48 hours.

However, the heat wave conditions are likely to continue over Bihar, Jharkhand, West Bengal, Odisha, Uttar Pradesh, Andhra Pradesh and Telangana during next 2-4 days.

The southwest monsoon normally sets in over Kerala on June 1 with a standard deviation of about seven days.

The southwest monsoon arrived in the southern state on May 29 last year, June 3 in 2021, June 1 in 2020, June 8 in 2019 and May 29 in 2018., the IMD stated.
