Bhubaneswar: Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi and Leader of Opposition (LoP) Naveen Patnaik expressed deep sorrow over the tragic bus accident in Sikkim’s Teesta River, where a vehicle carrying tourists, including several from Odisha, plunged into the river in Mangan district.
CM Majhi, upon learning of the involvement of Odia passengers, held discussions with the Sikkim government to coordinate rescue operations, medical treatment, and the safe return of affected passengers to Odisha.
He has dispatched a special team of Odisha officials to Sikkim to oversee the crisis management.
BJD President and LoP Naveen Patnaik stated, “I am deeply saddened to learn about the Odia passengers involved in the tragic bus accident in Sikkim’s Teesta River. I pray for the strength of the bereaved families and a speedy recovery for the injured.”
The accident, reported on Friday, claimed one life, left two injured, and eight others missing, according to police sources.
The Odisha government is closely monitoring the situation, with efforts underway to support the victims and their families during this difficult time, as per sources.
