Berhampur: The Berhampur Police has arrested a private bank manager for allegedly cheating three persons of Rs 45.5 lakhs.
Epili Mithun (35), a resident of Gosani Nuagaon, who is currently branch manager, ICICI Bank, Gosani Nuagaon Branch, has been arrested by the police for cheating three persons – Chandan Kumar Padhy (38) of Gosaninuagon, Berhampur; M. Devi Prasad (42) of Prem Nagar, Berhampur and Sandeep Kumar Sahu (38) of Hilpatana area, Berhampur.
In the year 2023, Epili Mithun while was branch manager of ICICI Bank, Dharma Nagar Branch, Berhampur where he met the three victims. He earned their trust by providing loans and by that trust, he took Rs 45.5 Lakhs from them promising high returns by investing the money in some gift card schemes. Since then Mithun gave only Rs.52,000 to the victim Sandeep Kumar Sahu.
The bank manager cheated the three victims promising high returns through loyalty scheme, forex card, gift card and petro card by mis-utilizing his power and position. When the victims claimed back their money accused threatened them that he would file harassment case against the claim, informed Berhampur SP Dr. Saravana Vivek M. through a press note.
