Bolangir: Retired Junior Accountant Convicted in Bribery Case, Sentenced to 3 Yrs Imprisonment

Bolangir: Kalandi Charan Bhuyan, a retired Junior Accountant-cum-Lease Clerk at the Office of the DFO (Territorial), Bolangir, was convicted today by the Special Judge, Vigilance, Bolangir, in a bribery case.

Bhuyan was found guilty of demanding and accepting a bribe of Rs. 10,000 from a complainant in exchange for granting permission to cut exempted trees on farmers’ recorded lands and facilitating the transport of the timber for sawing.

Following an investigation and trial, the court sentenced him to three years of rigorous imprisonment and imposed a fine of Rs. 10,000.

Odisha Vigilance informed that it will now move the competent authority for stoppage of pension of Bhuyan following his conviction.
