Berhampur: As part of its community policing activities to instill confidence among the general public, Sonapur Marine Police Station, Berhampur organized a friendly cricket tournament in Patisonapur village.
The youths of the village participated in the sporting event.
Berhampur SP Dr. Saravana Vivek M. and other senior police officials were present in the program and encouraged the participants.
Four teams competed against each other in 8 over matches and the winner and runners up teams were awarded trophies. Cricket kits and jerseys were distributed to all the players by Berhampur SP.
Apart from this a health camp was organised at the venue with help of the medical staff of Chikiti and Girisola.
The village gentries of Patisonapur were felicitated by police and musical instruments were distributed to them for use in the village Kothaghara.
Villagers were briefed the purpose of holding such activities in their village and the importance of it.
A community feast was organised. Around 150 villagers took part and had their lunch.
Similar community policing events have been planned for Sonapur and Anantraipur villages in the coming days to bridge the gap between police and public, said Berhampur SP.
