Bhubaneswar: Odisha Vigilance officials arrested Nityananda Nayak, Divisional Forest Officer (DFO) of Keonjhar’s KL Division on charges of possessing disproportionate assets.
Following a two-day investigation and extensive searches, the vigilance team unearthed evidence of significant wealth accumulated beyond Nayak’s known sources of income.
The searches revealed a 9,000-square-foot multi-storeyed building in Angul, a luxurious farmhouse spanning 1.5 acres in Chhendipada, Angul, equipped with an outhouse, pond, borewells, and extensive plantations. Additionally, authorities seized 115 valuable plots, 200 grams of gold, Rs 10.25 lakh in cash, bank deposits worth over Rs 50.38 lakh, and two four-wheelers.
.Nayak allegedly attempted to conceal details of the farmhouse, but a diary detailing its construction costs was recovered from his Keonjhar residence.
A case has been registered under the Prevention of Corruption Act, and Nayak will be produced before the Special Judge, Vigilance, Keonjhar court.
