Bhubaneswar: Biju Janata Dal (BJD) President and Leader of Opposition Naveen Patnaik will chair a crucial party meeting at Sankha Bhawan in Bhubaneswar on June 10 at 4 PM.
The meeting has been convened for BJD leaders who contested the last general elections but were unsuccessful. Discussions are expected to focus on strengthening the party organisation, reviewing the prevailing political scenario, and formulating strategies for future programmes and upcoming elections.
Party sources said special emphasis will be placed on reinforcing the BJD’s grassroots network, enhancing organisational effectiveness, and boosting the morale of party workers across the state. The leadership is also expected to assess the party’s preparedness at various levels and identify areas that require greater attention.
The leaders attending the meeting have been asked to submit brief reports on the implementation of SIR-related programmes assigned by the party, the formation of organisational committees at the block and urban local body levels, and other political and organisational activities undertaken in their respective areas. The reports will be reviewed by Naveen Patnaik as part of a comprehensive organisational assessment exercise.
Sources said the meeting will also deliberate on issues concerning governance and discuss what the party views as the shortcomings and failures of the current state government. The leadership is expected to chalk out an action plan to effectively raise these issues among the people.
The meeting is being seen as a significant step in the BJD’s efforts to strengthen its organisational structure, energise its cadre base, and chart its future political course under the leadership of Naveen Patnaik.
