Odisha Govt Approves Major Salary Hike for MLAs, Ministers and Speaker

Bhubaneswar: The Odisha Government has approved a significant increase in the salaries and allowances of MLAs, Ministers, the Speaker, and pensions for former legislators after the State Assembly passed the revised remuneration bill.

Under the new provisions, the salary and pension for both sitting and former MLAs have been raised to ₹90,000 per month. The Speaker’s monthly salary has also witnessed a steep jump to ₹98,000, up from the earlier ₹40,500, while the sitting allowance has been increased from ₹800 to ₹2,000.

According to official sources, the car allowance for the Speaker has been enhanced from ₹17,000 to ₹89,000, and the sumptuary allowance has been raised to ₹1.81 lakh, compared to the previous ₹40,000 per month.
