Odisha Vigilance Nabs Health Workers for Taking Bribe 

Bhubaneswar: Odisha Vigilance has apprehended Kunja Bihari Rout, a Male Health Worker cum Clerk at Muniguda Community Health Centre (CHC) in Rayagada district, for accepting a bribe.

Rout was caught red-handed while taking Rs 3,000 from a poor farmer to issue a birth certificate.

Rout had demanded a total of Rs 6,000, initially accepting Rs 3,000 and pressuring the farmer for the remaining amount. Unable to meet the demand, the complainant alerted Vigilance officials, who set up a sting operation and arrested Rout while he accepted the additional bribe.

The entire bribe amount was recovered from Rout’s possession and seized. Simultaneous searches are underway at two of Rout’s properties to investigate potential Disproportionate Assets (DA).

Koraput Vigilance has registered a case, and the investigation is ongoing.
