Odisha Vigilance Nabs Newly-Recruited Junior Revenue Assistant in Bhubaneswar for Accepting Rs 30,000 Bribe

Bhubaneswar: The Odisha Vigilance apprehended Sourav Tripathy, a Junior Revenue Assistant (JRA) in the Special Certificate Section of the Office of the Sub-Collector, Bhubaneswar, on Friday for accepting a bribe of Rs 30,000.

Tripathy, who was recruited in March 2024, was caught red-handed while demanding and accepting the bribe from a complainant to process a long-pending file in a certificate case.

The complainant, frustrated by repeated demands for the bribe despite multiple requests to initiate action on the file, reported the matter to the Vigilance authorities. Acting swiftly, the Vigilance team laid a trap and nabbed Tripathy while he was accepting the bribe amount.

The entire sum of Rs 30,000 was recovered from his possession and seized by the Vigilance sleuths.

Following the arrest, simultaneous searches are underway at two locations linked to Tripathy to investigate potential disproportionate assets (DA).

A case has been registered against him under Bhubaneswar Vigilance P.S.. The investigation is ongoing, with further details expected soon.
