Sambalpur: Revenue Inspector Caught Red-Handed Taking Rs 40,000 Bribe 

Sambalpur: The Odisha Vigilance today apprehended Bhisma Pradhan, Revenue Inspector (RI) of Goudpalli Revenue Circle under Jamankira Tahasil, Sambalpur district for allegedly accepting a bribe of Rs 40,000 from a landless person.

According to Vigilance sources, Pradhan had been demanding the bribe since November 2024 to furnish a favourable report in a lease case and issue Record of Rights (RoR) in the name of the complainant and his family members.

After repeated requests went unheard, the complainant finally approached the Vigilance Department, which laid a trap.

This afternoon, Vigilance sleuths caught Pradhan while accepting the demanded bribe amount.

Following the trap, simultaneous searches are being conducted at two premises linked to the accused to probe disproportionate assets (DA).

A case has been registered under Sambalpur Vigilance PS Case No.12 dated 11.06.2025 under Section 7 of the Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988, as amended in 2018.

Further investigation is underway. A detailed report is awaited.
